Statistical Problems

The applet below creates problems for you to practice computing means and deviations. You will be given a small data set, and asked to compute its mean, maximum absolute and percentage deviations, and standard deviation. When you have computed an answer, enter it in the box and then click on the "Check Answer" button to find out if you did the problem correctly. You may try the same computation with a different data set by clicking on the "Same Problem" button, or choose to practice calculating either the next quantity in sequence ("Next Problem" button) or a random quantity ("Random Problem" button).

Be sure to round all answers to whole numbers; file sizes should be always rounded up, while other numbers should be rounded to the nearest whole number.

You need a Java-capable browser such as Netscape 2 for Windows or Netscape 3 for Macintosh to be able to work with the units problems.
