Calculating Storage Requirements for Multimedia Applications

The applet below creates problems for you to practice computing storage requirements for video memory, digitized audio and digitized video. You will be given several related quantities, and asked to solve for a different one. When you have computed your answer, enter it in the box, click on the correct unit for your answer and then click on the "Check Answer" button to find out if you did the problem correctly. You may try the same problem with different numbers by clicking on the "Same Problem" button, or choose to practice calculating either the next variable in sequence ("Next Problem" button) or a random variable ("Random Problem" button).

All values are rounded to integers. Since storage requirements are rounded, you can assume standard values for things such as resolutions and sample rates. Also, you do need to choose the correct units to get the problem correct!

You need a Java-capable browser such as Netscape 2 for Windows or Netscape 3 for Macintosh to be able to work with the units problems.

Do you need some reminders about
